Chandigarh, (Rishika Rajput) - Haryana Transport Minister Moolchand Sharma directed the officials to ensure road safety standards along with construction of new roads in order to avoid accidents. The Transport Minister was presiding over the meeting of the State Road Safety Council at Haryana Niwas on Tuesday and directed the officials to work on priority where there is a need for road market.
He directed to form joint teams with NHAI for this. He also said that the helpline and medical helpline numbers should be at a sufficient distance on the road so that the victim can be easily accessible if needed. Moolchand Sharma reviewed all the ongoing highway projects in the state, he directed the concerned officers to pressurize the contractors to repair the road in the prescribed time method, as well as fix the responsibility of the contractor for the roads that break prematurely. The Transport Minister has directed all the officials to ensure proper monitoring of commercial vehicles having flicker tapes and reflectors. All those sugar mills were also asked to depute an officer through RTOs to ensure that the trucks are fitted with reflector tapes.
On this occasion, Additional Chief Secretary, School Education Department Mahavir Singh, Principal Secretary Transport Department Smt. Kala Ramachandran, Transport Commissioner Amitabh Dhillon, IG Traffic Rajesh Singh, Superintendent of Police Traffic Rajendra Kumar Meena were present in the meeting.
