Light rains in parts of Haryana, Punjab provide some respite

Chandigarh:
Light rain and overcast conditions on Monday provided some respite from the month-long heat wave which had the states of Punjab and Haryana under its grip.
A few places in Haryana, including Gurgaon, Jhajjar and Rohtak got light showers, while Patiala and Ludhiana in Punjab also received some rain.
The mercury dropped by a couple of notches at these places in the morning after the rains.
Overcast conditions prevailed in Chandigarh and Amritsar this morning. The maximum temperatures in the two states had been hovering in the range of 42-46 degrees Celsius for the past few days.
